Tim Jenks
Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer
Tim Jenks has been President & CEO since April, 1998. In addition, he has served as Board Member and CEO of affiliate and spin out companies NanoGram Corporation, Kainos Energy Corp. and NanoGram Devices Corp. ( acquired in 2004 by Greatbatch Technologies, NYSE: GB). Prior to joining the company, Mr. Jenks was a Vice President and General Manager at Raychem Corporation (NYSE) where he served in various general management and functional positions in both the United States and Europe. He served as a reviewer of the National Nanotechnology Initiative and was a panel author of "Small Wonders: Endless Frontiers". He holds a MBA degree from Stanford University, a MS in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS in Mechanical Engineering and Marine Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.
Raymond Cheung, Ph.D.
Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
Raymond Cheung has more than fifteen years of operations and technical management experience in technology and fiber optics component industries. Dr. Cheung joined NeoPhotonics in June 2007 as VP Product Engineering in NeoPhotonics China and he was subsequently appointed VP R&D there. Dr. Cheung has previously held senior technical, operations and management positions with SAE Magnetics (TDK Corp), Hong Kong Applied Science & Technology Research Institute and Philips Semiconductors. Dr. Cheung received a PhD degree in Materials and Mechanics from Cambridge University (England) and BEng in Mechanical Engineering from King’s College, London (England).
Wupen Yuen, Ph.D.
Vice President of Product Development and Engineering
Wupen Yuen is responsible for global product development and engineering at NeoPhotonics. Dr. Yuen has more than ten years of technology/product development and management experience in optical communications. He joined NeoPhotonics in 2005 and has held management positions in Business Development and Product Engineering. Previously Dr. Yuen was a co-founder and Chief Technical Officer at Bandwidth9, Inc., a telecom tunable laser company. Dr. Yuen received a PhD and a MS from Stanford University and a BS from National Taiwan University, all in Electrical Engineering.
G. Ferris Lipscomb, Ph.D.
Vice President of Marketing
Dr. G. Ferris Lipscomb was one of the founders and Vice President of Marketing for Lightwave Microsystems. He previously served as General Manager and Executive Vice President of Akzo Nobel Electronic Products, Inc., and at Lockheed Missiles & Space Company, Dr. Lipscomb was Chief Scientist for the Photonics and Lightwave Technology Research and Development Division. Dr. Lipscomb also served on the Technical Staff of the TRW Technology Research Center. Dr. Lipscomb received his PhD in Solid State Physics from the University of Pennsylvania and a BS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
James D. Fay
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
James D. Fay has been the company's Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since January 2009. Since joining NeoPhotonics in May 2007, he served as the company's Vice President of Legal Affairs and General Counsel. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and General Counsel for @Road, a mobile resource management service provider. Over seven years at @Road, Mr. Fay helped the company raise venture capital, complete an initial public offering and secondary offering, acquire and integrate several companies, grow the business to a $100 million revenue run rate, and sell the company to Trimble Navigation for $500 million. Prior to @Road, he was a corporate and securities attorney for the Venture Law Group, representing venture-backed technology companies and their investors. Mr. Fay holds a juris doctor degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School and bachelors of arts degrees in international business and French, summa cum laude, from North Central College.
Ben Sitler
Vice President of Global Sales
Ben Sitler has more than twenty years of sales and executive management experience in the telecommunications and electronics industries and joined NeoPhotonics with the acquisition of Paxera, a tunable laser company he co-founded and for which he served as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Sitler was previously Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Lightwave Microsystems, which NeoPhotonics acquired in 2003. Mr. Sitler spent fifteen years at Raychem Corporation, where he served in various roles including Sales, Product Marketing, Product Line Management, Business Development and Executive Staff. Mr. Sitler received a Bachelor's Degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and an M.B.A. from the Anderson School of Business at UCLA, and served in the U. S. Navy in the nuclear submarine force.
K.Y. Chan
General Manager, NeoPhotonics (China) Co.Ltd.
K.Y. Chan comes to NeoPhotonics from EcoTech International Group, a company he co-founded to provide clean technology and operations consulting to property managers in China and the U.S. Previously, he held management positions with several global companies including Advanced Micro Devices, where he was the vice president of Supply Chain Management; Picsel Technologies Ltd., an embedded software company as the Greater China region managing director; Hewlett-Packard, where he established and served as general manager of the China Solutions Software Center; and Motorola, where, over a 15 year period, he held several positions including Vice President and General Manager, Asia, Broadband Communications Sector.
Ian Gray
Vice President of Human Resources
Ian Gray is the Vice President of Human Resources and is responsible for aligning the people and organization with business priorities. He has significant global management experience having managed and supported employee groups in the United States, Europe and Asia, delivering HR programs to promote business and individual success. Mr. Gray has led the HR function most recently at @Road, Inc., and previously at Business Objects and CellNet Data Systems. He has led HR functions globally at Raychem and at Allied Colloids plc in the UK. He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Wales.
