Tim Jenks
Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Jenks has been President & CEO since April, 1998. In addition, he has served as Board Member and CEO of affiliate and spin out companies NanoGram Corporation, Kainos Energy Corp. and NanoGram Devices Corp. ( acquired in 2004 by Greatbatch Technologies, NYSE: GB). Prior to joining the company, Mr. Jenks was a Vice President and General Manager at Raychem Corporation (NYSE) where he served in various general management and functional positions in both the United States and Europe. He served as a reviewer of the National Nanotechnology Initiative and was a panel author of "Small Wonders: Endless Frontiers". He holds a MBA degree from Stanford University, a MS in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS in Mechanical Engineering and Marine Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.
Ping Xie, Ph.D.
General Manager, NeoPhotonics (China) Co.Ltd.
Dr. Ping Xie has over ten years of product development experience in lasers, fiber optical components and subsystems. Prior joining NeoPhotonics, he has held positions in Finisar Corporation Transwave Division as Vice President of Engineering, in New Focus Corporation as Vice president of Passive Device Engineering and he served as a product line manager and technical staff at JDS Uniphase. He has also worked as the technical staff member at Los Alamos National Lab and at Candela Laser Corporation. Dr. Xie received his PhD and MS degrees in Applied Physics and Physics, both from the University of Michigan. He received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in fiber optics and microwaves from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.
G. Ferris Lipscomb, Ph.D.
Vice President of Marketing
Dr. G. Ferris Lipscomb was one of the founders and Vice President of Marketing for Lightwave Microsystems. He previously served as General Manager and Executive Vice President of Akzo Nobel Electronic Products, Inc., and at Lockheed Missiles & Space Company, Dr. Lipscomb was Chief Scientist for the Photonics and Lightwave Technology Research and Development Division. Dr. Lipscomb also served on the Technical Staff of the TRW Technology Research Center. Dr. Lipscomb received his PhD in Solid State Physics from the University of Pennsylvania and a BS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Michael G. Potter
Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Michael Potter joined NeoPhotonics after serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of STATSChipPAC Ltd., one of the world’s leading semiconductor assembly and test company, for the past three years. STATSChipPAC is a $1.6B concern with global headquarters in Singapore and operations through Asia and in the USA. At STATSChipPAC he oversaw the company’s global finance organization that includes investor relations and treasury functions as the company grew from $880M revenue in 2004 to $1.6B in 2006 while greatly reducing capital intensity. Prior to STATSChipPAC and ChipPAC, Mr. Potter, a Chartered Accountant, held various executive positions at Honeywell Inc., including Controller for a $1 billion SBU. Earlier in his career, Mr. Potter served as a Senior Auditor at KPMG Peat Marwick. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting from Concordia University and a Graduate Diploma of Public Accountancy from McGill University.
James D. Fay
Vice President of Legal Affairs & General Counsel
James D. Fay has served as our Vice President of Legal Affairs and General Counsel since May 2007. Previously, Mr. Fay served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and General Counsel for @Road, a mobile resource management service provider. Prior to that, Mr. Fay was an attorney for the Venture Law Group. Mr. Fay holds a juris doctor degree from Harvard Law School and bachelors of arts degrees in international business and French from North Central College.
Ben Sitler
Vice President of Global Sales
Ben Sitler has more than twenty years of sales and executive management experience in the telecommunications and electronics industries and joined NeoPhotonics with the acquisition of Paxera, a tunable laser company he co-founded and for which he served as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Sitler was previously Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Lightwave Microsystems, which NeoPhotonics acquired in 2003. Mr. Sitler spent fifteen years at Raychem Corporation, where he served in various roles including Sales, Product Marketing, Product Line Management, Business Development and Executive Staff. Mr. Sitler received a Bachelor's Degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and an M.B.A. from the Anderson School of Business at UCLA, and served in the U. S. Navy in the nuclear submarine force.
Ian Gray
Vice President of Human Resources
Ian Gray is the Vice President of Human Resources and is responsible for aligning the people and organization with business priorities. He has significant global management experience having managed and supported employee groups in the United States, Europe and Asia, delivering HR programs to promote business and individual success. Mr. Gray has led the HR function most recently at @Road, Inc., and previously at Business Objects and CellNet Data Systems. He has led HR functions globally at Raychem and at Allied Colloids plc in the UK. He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Wales.
